UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

Company workshops are open to the public but have limited capacity.
Advance registration is required.

Choreography: Storytelling with the Body

Wednesday, September 28th 12:00pm - 3:00pm | $40
at The Kingsland Ward

Led by Jennine Willett, Co-Artistic Director of Third Rail Projects, this three hour workshop explores ways to craft choreography as a means of storytelling. Participants will work independently and collaboratively to explore ways of weaving together movement, gestures, and motifs to create dances that are resonant, whether the narrative is linear or fragmented. Applying different directives of intention and focus choices, we will experiment with deepening and clarifying the meaning in our choreographic material. A dance or physical theater background is suggested.

Immersive Performance Skills: Shifting Landscapes

Friday, October 7th 12:00pm - 3:00pm | $40
at The Kingsland Ward

This three-hour workshop, led by long-standing company member of Third Rail Projects Rebekah Morin, focuses on building the spatial awareness needed when performing in for site-specific and immersive works. Dancing through a crowd at a street festival, leading and following fellow performers across vast distances, and guiding an audience, all require a heightened awareness of a constantly shifting landscape. Participants will play with movement scores that explore various non-verbal ways of leading and following, listening and responding, and group decision making. A dance or theater background is not required, but a willingness to move and explore is a requisite.

Immersive Performance Skills: Duets

Friday, October 14th 12:00pm - 3:00pm | $40
at The Kingsland Ward

Led by Third Rail Projects company member Rebekah Morin, this three hour workshop focuses on duets and one on one audience interaction. Listening and responding to one person has different goals and challenges than ensemble work. Participants will explore their spatial relations, visual focus, and the exchange of energy when engaged in duets using a variety of movement scores and games. A dance or theater background is not required, but a willingness to move and explore is a requisite.
